November 14, 2018 – JA British Columbia (JABC) is pleased to announce the 2019 inductees into the Business Laureates of British Columbia Hall of Fame. The 2019 inductees are:

Samuel Belzberg (1928-2018) Chair & Chief Executive Officer of Belzberg & Co. Ltd.

J. Haig deB. Farris, O.C., LL.D (Hon) President of Fractal Capital Corp.

David R. Podmore, O.B.C. Chair & Co-Founder of Concert Properties Ltd.

Chip Wilson Co-Founder of Hold It All Inc.

These four individuals will be inducted into the BLBC Hall of Fame at the 14th annual Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremonies taking place on May 14, 2019 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

“On behalf of the Hall of Fame Cabinet Members, I would like to congratulate the 2019 Laureates,” said Barbara Brink, Gala Co-Chair and Co-Founder. “This distinction is truly a testament to their lifetime achievements, success and contributions to our society and throughout the province. They have set a tremendous example for future business leaders.”

Bill Weymark, Gala Co-Chair said, “It is our honour and pleasure to induct these four individuals into the Hall of Fame. Their achievements inspire young leaders to continue to shape our province and economy. I congratulate them on this distinction and look forward to celebrating this honour with them.”

The nomination process was guided by Laureate Selection Sponsor, PFM Executive Search, an executive recruitment firm based in Vancouver. Prerequisites for induction include outstanding business achievements, enduring contributions to the province and country, and deep commitments to diverse and niche communities.

Final Laureate selection was made by an independent committee comprised of the following members: Ross Beaty, Norm Francis, Frank Giustra, Mary Jordan, David McLean, and John McLernon.

The 14th annual Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremonies is proudly co-presented by Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP and RBC. The gala is attended by approximately 700 guests annually and includes a pre-dinner reception, commemorative videos, special guest speakers, JA student presentations and more.

Proceeds from the BLBC Hall of Fame support the efforts of JABC in delivering high-quality business education programs free-of-charge to almost 38,000 students across the province annually.
