JA British Columbia is pleased to announce the 2019 JABC Scholarship and Award winners. These awards recognize outstanding student performance in a JA program during the 2018-2019 school year.

Student Company Apiculture, from Kamloops (pictured above), won the Celebrate Entrepreneurship Award for developing locally sourced wooden coasters, a honeycombed shaped product that helps spread the word about B.C.’s declining bee population. This $3,000 award is sponsored by the B.C. Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology and recognizes the JA student company that best demonstrates innovation.

“Congratulations to this year’s JABC Scholarship and Award winners. These recipients are an impressive group of young people who display great entrepreneurial spirit,” said Bruce Ralston, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology. “Young entrepreneurs like these are the leaders of tomorrow and will help drive our strong and diverse economy forward.”

“On behalf of the Small Business Roundtable we would like to recognize the work of JA British Columbia and their efforts to inspire and educate youth about entrepreneurship and business,” says Jill Doucette, Founding Partner of Synergy Enterprises and this year’s Celebrate Entrepreneurship Award adjudicator. “The next generation are our future leaders who will continue to make BC an innovative place to work and do business.”
