September 10, 2018– Over the next three years, the Central Okanagan Foundation will support the delivery of JA British Columbia (JABC) programs to 100 classes in the Central Okanagan School District. In collaboration with educators and volunteers, these financial literacy, work-readiness and entrepreneurship programs will benefit a minimum of 2,500 Central Okanagan youth annually.
“The Central Okanagan Foundation recognized the gap the JABC’s programs would fill and appreciated the diversity of the programs. Their programs combine traditional activities, technology enabled games and some real world practice allowing students to practice their newly acquired skills while receiving feedback in a safe place,” said Cheryl Miller, Director of Grants & Community Initiatives with the foundation.
“We are very pleased to work with the Central Okanagan Foundation to deliver important educational programs in Central Okanagan School District 23,” said Sheila Biggers, President and CEO of JA British Columbia. “Their contribution will enable the delivery of financial literacy, work-readiness and entrepreneurial programs to better prepare Okanagan youth for successful futures.”
