Message from our President and CEO

Message from our President and CEO

November 23, 2022 – November is wrapping up, and it has been a special month for JABC. It’s Financial Literacy Month, a time when we acknowledge the importance of financial health for all Canadians. I am so proud to be part of a youth-focused organization that works hard to inspire students and build a financially capable generation.

Also, this month we are thrilled to announce our 2023 Business Laureates of British Columbia Hall of Fame Inductees: Asa Johal, John Anderson, Nancy Stibbard, and Peter B. Gustavson. These business leaders, who are such positive role models to young people, will be inducted at our annual Gala and Induction Ceremonies in the spring.

All of the net proceeds from the BLBC Gala supports JABC in delivering programs to youth. In fact, over 10,000 students, 21% of the youth JABC reached last school year, were inspired thanks to the funds received from the BLBC Hall of Fame. If you are interested in a sponsorship opportunity, please reach out to Delreen.Motiwalla@jabc.org.

This week, JABC was part of the Career Education Society (CES) Annual Fall Conference in Vancouver. I had the wonderful opportunity to moderate two panels: The Future of Work and Knowing What Recruiters Look For. Our Guest Speakers were so knowledgeable and interesting. I’m sure attendees walked away with some great new insights- I know I did!

Finally, I would like to acknowledge three new members of our JABC Board of Directors: Sandy Chan, Omar Ladak, and Leslie Lee. Thank you for joining the JABC Community in October. Your experience and contributions will work to ensure we build a brighter future for the next generation of B.C. innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders.

Thank you for your support!

Sheila
